Cuttack is known as the Cultural Capital of Odisha. It is the second largest city of Odisha. It is one of the oldest towns and is situated 30 km away from the capital city Bhubaneswar. Before 1956 Cuttack was the capital of Odisha. In 1956 the capital changed from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar. It is landed on the bank of river Mahanadi. Cuttack is well known for its Silver filigree work.

Cuttack is also known as the Millennium City of Odisha. Cuttack is known as Silver City due to its history of 1000 years and famous silver filigree works. The city hosts a large number of trading and business houses in and around. So it is known as the commercial capital of Odisha.

Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are known as the Twin-Cities of Odisha. Cuttack is categorized as a Tier-II city as per the ranking system used by Government of India. Odisha High Court is located here, so it is considered as the judicial capital of Odisha.

Cuttack Chandi Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Chandi. The temple is located on the banks of the Mahanadi River. Durga Puja and Kali Puja are the famous festivals celebrated in this temple.

Gada Chandi Temple is another famous temple in Cuttack. It is situated in the Barabati Fort. It is one of the oldest temples in Cuttack.

Daatan Sahib Gurdwara a holy historical Sikh shrine situated on the bank of river Mahanadi. Baisakhi is the famous festival celebrated here.

Qadam Rasul is a shrine visited both by Hindus and Muslims. This holy shrine is constructed by one Hindu Ruler for the Muslims.

Jama Masjid is constructed during the Mughals. It is one of the oldest holy places in Cuttack.

Barabati Fort constructed in 14th century. Winter season is the best time to visit the fort.

Netaji Birth Place Museum is the birth place of Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Puri is a city in Odisha famous for Lord Jagannath temple. It is one of the char dham pilgrimage site for Hindus.  The other major attraction here is the beach.

Dhabaleswar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated at a distance of 27km from the city of Cuttack. This place is famous mainly for the hanging bridge and in Odia called Jhula Polo.

By Air– The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar, about 25 km away from where one can get taxis, trains and buses to reach at Cuttack.

By Train– The nearest railway stations is at Cuttack railway station. It located at the heart of the city.

Best Time to Visit

One can visit Cuttack in the month of October for the famous Durga Puja. For a tour to Cuttack October to March is the best time.
